Thermal Transfer Ribbons: A thermal ribbon is required to print on thermal transfer materials. There are basically three formulations available: Wax, Wax/Resin, and Resin. The formulation to use is based on the material of the facestock that is being printed. According to printer manufacturer specifications, the ribbon should always be slightly wider than the media on which you are printing.
This ribbon has a built in printhead cleaner. Built in at the beginning of the thermal ribbon, the patented Clean Start© printhead cleaner removes debris before it builds up on the printhead so images are always clear, consistent, and highly readable. Simply pull Clean Start© through the locked printhead at the start of each ribbon to maintain sharp, black bar codes and text for your entire print run.
The Wax formulation is recommended for use on thermal transfer labels and tags with paper facestocks. May also be used on some synthetic facestocks such as polypropylene (BOPP).
